Hexafluo’s C4F7N Contributes to the Successful Operation of China’s First 330 kV SF6-Free Circuit Breaker

On August 9, 2025, China’s first 330 kV C4 gas circuit breaker was officially put into operation at Haishiwan 330 kV Substation of State Grid Lanzhou Power Supply Company, filling the technical gap in eco-friendly tank-type circuit breakers at the voltage level of 330 KV.

The core equipment of this project is the first 330 KV EconiQ® tank circuit breaker in China, which is completely SF₆-free. SF6 is the most potent greenhouse gas(GHG) with the highest value of global warming potential(GWP). This landmark project of Hitachi Energy’s EconiQ product marks a critical breakthrough in the green and low-carbon power grid equipment in domestic China.

Hexafluo’s C4F7N is adopted as the insulating and arc-extinguishing medium for the project. All indicators of C4F7N gas including purity, moisture, etc. fully meet global and domestic technical standards and gain full recognition from the on-site engineering team. C4F7N gas can not only deliver outstanding performance making sure the stable operation of high-voltage equipment, but also drastically reduce the greenhouse effect of insulating medium and the carbon emissions in power industry. This project sets an industrial benchmark for sustainable transformation of power transmission and distribution, and provides mature and innovative solutions for sustainable development of power industry.
